9:20 am - Moved house - WIIGII!
|
So, after a weekend of moving loads of stuff (I own far too much useless junk alongside the cool stuff, but it seems I'm too soppy to part with most of it), pretty much everything is set up in the new place. And what a place it is... a five bedroom monster of a house, and finally I've got a room big enough to set up all my gear in.
Finally handed over the keys to the old place yesterday, which felt a little sad - I've lived there for just over two years... but my sister's taking it over, so it's not like I won't be there again.
Hope everyone's well - our internet (ADSL) in the new place should be hooked up in the next week or so, so will be on for a proper natter and catch-up then. Till then, have fun all! :)

11:37 pm - Jesus onna stick, that was fun!
|
After living in this area for 2 years and knowing there was an open mic night around the corner, finally managed to drag my arse round there, and if it didn't lead to the most fun I've had in a while, I don't know what would.
Obviously, with the loss of Paul Hester earlier this week (Hope you've found the peace you needed dude, rest in peace) the songs I played (and fluffed in the case of Four Seasons In One Day) tended towards the sombre side, but I was blown away by the reception I got, and because it was a quiet night I got to meet so many great people... I'm going to be buzzing for weeks! :D
Now I remember why I used to say that music was better than any drug I'd ever taken - I hope the rest of you have an equally wicked time. Been invited to jam with some really nice folk.
Anyhoo, back to reality, work tomorrow... but for once I'm going to sleep with an indelible grin. Rest well all!

Hooked up with the F-man (the guy who was the frontman in my old band) and his missus last night. It was really good to see them - Did we drunkenly take advantage of the two acoustic guitars in the living room and belt out a couple of our songs around midnight? I do believe we did ;)
I reckon my plan to get more stuff done in my spare time and stop mooching is a good'un. We've agreed to hook up once a month at the very least, hopefully once a fortnight, money and work permitting.
Now alls I gotta do is nurse this mild hangover while at work. Worth it though.

4:09 pm - Busy busy busy....
|
Well, I certainly can't accuse my life of being boring of late, though I do seem to be in a bit of a repetitive pattern (which as long as the things I'm doing are fun, shouldn't degenerate into a rut... *touches wood*).
Driving going well, did a mission up to Oxford a couple of weeks back, music progressing slowly due to freelance work, freelance work giving me the chance to make a little extra cash, so yeah... 's all good.
Started Tai Chi a fortnight ago as well, which is already helping me with my co-ordination and relaxing my nervy persona.
All well in Joe-ville really. :)
As an aside, I've had some interesting news recently which threw some of my past into sharp focus - but I'm genuinely surprised that it hasn't affected me more. Must be growing up or something! :D

9:21 am - Finally!
|
|
After being stuck indoors feeling bloody awful for the last four weekends, I finally managed to get out, and had a bit of a stormer. Saw some people I haven't seen since before Christmas, met some completely new people, bounced like a loon and generally had more fun than I've had in ages. Thanks, guys!

5:33 pm - How long does it take to repair a water main?
|
Been late into, and home from work the last couple of days, 'cos there's been a burst water main in Angel.
I know, these things happen... but it's still annoying getting moaned at by work and not getting home until daft times. Still, I've got my health and stuff, therefore I can't complain too much without sounding like a tosser, so I'll stop. ;)
Doing the edits for the video music tonight, it's Friday tomorrow and I'm *definitely* going out Saturday night this weekend, so I hope my mood finds those good enough reasons to lift. :)

3:43 pm - Feels Like Monday
|
Well, didn't manage to go 'out' out this weekend - it seems that there wasn't all that much that was appealing, and the techno thingy we were going to visit for a laff had 'location issues'. Ho hum...
Still, this was first weekend my sister's been back from Maidstone, so managed to visit her and my cousins for a drink, which dissolved into predictably amusing messiness - I swear I don't have the stamina that I used to. Getting old... ;)
One of my cousins managed to get a trip out to Dublin the other week (lucky get!) - and proclaimed that if the Guinness over here tasted as nice as the stuff over here, he'd be drinking it regularly. One of the photos has him doing a drunken Michael Flatley (Riverdance) impersonation in front of the brewery gates - not particularly newsworthy in itself, but amusing 'cos there exists a picture of me doing *exactly* the same thing in *exactly* the same place 4 years ago. Especially amusing, considering he's never seen the pic and I've never told him. ;)
Ah well, back to the grind. May write more when I get home.

Well, the fatigue's almost gone - so yay!
Crazy German Flatmate appears to have gone down with the lurgee now though, so will have to be a bit careful.
Looking forward to going out properly for the first time in a month this weekend! Plus I'm hoping to catch up properly with my little sis, who's got herself back home for a bit of well-needed R&R. Hopefully Ma will be too caught up mothering her to bits to mother me too incessantly (OK, I admit it's kinda nice, but I'm 26 years old now, Mum! ;)
In order to do this I shall be feverishly trying to finish the music this evening, so if anyone tries to get hold of me and I take a wee while to reply on IM this evening, please forgive me!

I have to say, I think I'm actually coughing more than I did when I smoked... yeesh!
Still, slowly on the mend. I had my first proper night's sleep last night in I don't know how long (or less theatrically, four days) and had my first proper food too.
Still a bit bleary-eyed though, and slowly realising that I've been a bit disconnected for the last few days, it feels like I've been 'phoning in' my life rather than living it. I just hope I haven't forgotten anything important or unintentionally offended anyone (I knack I seem to have occasionally).
I've got a couple of extra days to finish the music, which is a godsend - and hopefully this weekend I'll be able to rest, visit my family and -all going well- go out properly for the first time in over a month.
Which will be nice. :)

Well, after a semi-restful day and a big plate of veg chilli, feeling much more human now.
Back to work tomorrow.
Don't think the music's going to get done on time though - arse.

In other news, I got a phonecall from my Mum, who's found a shirty little note on my car proclaiming that it's 'been abandoned here for four weeks' (when the astute observer would have noticed that it's been driven in and out of that space a few times in the last four weeks, staying away overnight in a couple of cases), and that 'the Police, the DVLA, and the Council's Abandoned Vehicle Office have been informed'. Now don't get me wrong, but the thing's parked on a public street, fully taxed and insured... I'm fairly sure that they've got no right to move it without notifying me.
Ooh, if I were a vindictive person I'd like to sneeze on them right now... :(

1:47 pm - Ill again - I don't believe it!
|
After thinking I'd successfully got over the January sniffles a fortnight ago, it hits me again like a freight train on Friday night!
*sob*
So the weekend has been mostly spent in bed with gallons of tea and hot lemon, which doesn't sound bad (and indeed isn't), but it's put a severe crimp in my music-making activities - for which the deadline's tomorrow. Guess that's this evening up the spout - not that I mind, just wish I'd had more time.
Still, it's given me time to watch a couple of movies that I've been threatening to watch for nearly a year, and it's given me an excuse to basically spend 2 and a half days asleep.

Well, 's been a damn long time since I've done one of these...
Uhh... got over the creeping miserablism I was suffering, had a mad four years, working, doing music in spare time.
Work's pretty nondescript at present.
Been working on some music for a video F shot - wants it to be 'Pixies-style'. Think I've got some nice stuff down, but I've forgotten how addictive doing music is. It's bloody late - really should get some shut-eye, (allegedly) being a responsible, upstanding member of society these days.
*snigger*

Quite why I'm doing this is beyond me, but here goes.....
Ever felt stuck in a rut, that no matter what you do, forces outside yourself seem to be making your decisions for you? Well, I'm feeling that by the bucketload.
Feeling down, but not quite rock bottom yet :)
